Car vitals:
There were nearly 118,000 DeSotos built in 1957, of which 23,339 were 4-dr Firedomes like mine. Firedomes were middle-of-the-line, between the Firesweep and the Fireflite. My car has the famous Torsion-Aire suspension, dash-mounted rear-view mirror, and some of the less common items like the tinted plexiglas sun visors.
I am the Technical Advisor for 1957 models for the National DeSoto Club and am happy to help in any way I can with your interest in 1957 DeSotos!

In September, 2001, I bought a 1957 Fireflite sedan that I found on a mountainside in West Virginia! Since I got it running without too much $ invested, I will put it on the road. Check out the "as she sits" pictures and the series of "progress" pictures HERE. (Newest pictures 6-15-02)
